Big bad Voodoo Daddy’s latest CD is said to be tribute to Cab Calloway. And their show at Eisemann Center too was titled on the similar lines as “100 Years of Cab Calloway – Featuring Big Bad Voodoo Daddy”. The houseful Eisemann Center witnessed performance of quintuple horned blast of retro band swinging with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s all time famous hits.
They performed for almost two and half hours with audience giving them standing ovation in the end.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been showing the same levels of enthusiasm and energy like they did when they started off as a house band in movie Swingers 17 years ago. Their horn section has the same over layering and all the members have refined their skills over the years. They enjoy the every bit of it and everyone seems to be at their best, giving out their best performance.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s leader and lead vocalist Scotty Morris has come long way along the years where many had complained about his voice as generic and flat. Now he can easily change easily into Louis Armstrong to Calloway to Georgie Fame and all of this while taking turns at pumping up the crowd and looking after the band while performing.

Though the night had songs dedicated to Calloway and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy also had songs from Save My Soul, themed on New Orleans. And they ended the show with “Sweet Home Alabama”. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy still sounds fresh even after being completely retro to come as a vibrant band that can entertain audiences.
